 | 01:04 am - BIZARRE ADVENTURES XMAS Only the twisted mind of Mike Carlin could conceive a Christmas tale like this. Straddling the fence between humor and horror, and succeeding at both. Possibly pitched for Marvel's B&W magazine CRAZY (maybe deemed too violent), it shows up in the holiday special issue of their other magazine anthology; BIZARRE ADVENTURES. from #34, February 1983

We see a slight variation on the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in this tale from CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES #42, January 1945.

 | 11:39 am - Heathcliff

George Gately's Heathcliff is a character that just about everyone should be familiar with. He's starred in three cartoon series, has a daily newspaper strip, and had a successful run of comics with Marvel's S*T*A*R Comics line that outlasted the imprint itself. Not bad for a character who seems doomed to forever lurk in Garfield's shadow as "the other fat orange cat". At least Heathcliff doesn't get on my nerves as much as Garfield does. This story is from HEATHCLIFF #6, February 1986:

 | 11:47 pm - BONE CHRISTMAS

If you have never read Jeff Smith's Bone series, you are truly missing out. Originally serialized in 55 irregularly-released B&W issues from 1991 to 2004, it's now available in a set of full color trade paperbacks. I highly recommend it for any and all readers, whether you like comix or not. It's action, comedy, fantasy, mystery all in one, and suitable for readers of all ages.

 | 12:11 pm - Marvel Comics Presents:

Jesse Blaze Snider seems to get what makes for good Deadpool writing: action and humor. The art by Marco Checchetto isn't quite to my liking tho'. That's life, I guess.

 | 12:58 am - TWO SATURDAYS WITH PATSY The war that never ends.... the battle of the sexes; or as Prince put it, "Boy versus girl in the World Series of love". Both stories are illustrated by Morris Weiss (who had quite an interesting career, in case you didn't know) and both were originally published in MISS AMERICA #75, December 1955.
